Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityThe Workplace Promotion Coordinator will apply population health promotion and community development principles and frameworks, to address determinants of health, within the scope of the role.The Workplace Health Promotion Coordinator (WHPC) supports the OHSW department within NSHA; using health promotion and population health principles to assist staff to be well in the workplace. Using current organizational data and an evidence-based health promotion framework (EBHPF), the main objective is to create conditions that protect, promote, and facilitate the health and wellness of staff. This is accomplished through policy development, community development, research and data analysis, and program/project planning and coordination. Working independently, as well as in collaboration with others, the WHPC advocates for healthy policies and procedures that promote health and reduce psychological risk and injury, creating a safe and healthy work environment.The WHPC collaborates with other members of the OHSW team, NSHA Zone/site leadership, employee groups, unions, contracting organizations, and others, in assisting teams/sites/populations to be empowered to improve their health and wellness.The WHPC is responsible for:

  • working with the Occupational Wellness team to develop and implement wellness strategies for all NSHA staff
  • working with an advisory committee of NSHA staff and stakeholders on matters pertaining to health and wellness at work
  • planning and managing projects such as educational initiatives and facilitation
  • communication strategies and programs that improve employee health and wellness
  • mobilizing resources and builds capacity of teams/department to improve health
  • liaising with EAP Provider to leverage services and provide opportunities for staff to increase knowledge and skill in personal health practices
  • integrating an EBHPF and safety management system (SMS) for NSHA
  • developing and maintaining a wide range of supportive relationships and contacts within and outside the NSHA internal community in support of creating a healthy and safe work environment
  • supporting policy development to consider/improve the health and wellness of NSHA staff and work environment

About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Masters degree in Health Promotion/Education, Organizational Development, Community Development, or related field, and 2 years experience in workplace health promotion OR Undergraduate degree in Health Promotion/Education, Organizational Development, Community Development or related field with a minimum 4 years work experience in workplace health promotion.
  • Strong planning and evaluation skills
  • Ability to think and act independently and strategically
  • Functions well independently and is self-directed
  • Effective and professional communication with colleagues and leadership
  • Proven effectiveness in program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience in capacity building
  • Health promotion experience and knowledge of health promotion theory
  • Community development orientation/experience
  • Proven ability to support learning for adults
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management and staff
  • Understanding of NSHA as an organization, knowledge of the health system and system issues
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
