Job description: ** This posting is for one (1) Full-Time Temporary position, ending on or before Dec 31, 2025, with the potential to extend up to 18 months**The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking one (1) highly organized and detail-oriented Charge Disclosure Unit Clerk to join our Disclosure Unit. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation, and electronic distribution of charge reports and supporting materials to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office. Your efforts will ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity of all court disclosure processes, contributing to the effectiveness of Edmonton’s justice system.Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Reviewing, preparing and disseminating disclosure packages (including charge reports and supplementary materials) in compliance with legal and procedural standards to the Provincial, Federal, and Specialized Crowns.
- Preparing Criminal Record Checks for all Crown Prosecution Offices.
- Ensuring all disclosed information is accurate, complete, and adheres to relevant confidentiality requirements.
- Maintaining detailed records of disclosure activities to support accountability and compliance.
- Collaborating with EPS personnel, Crown Prosecutors, and other stake holders to address disclosure related inquiries and requests.
- Safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information throughout all stages of the disclosure process.
- Adhering to strict deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Searching, editing, and updating various databases.
- Itemizing, cataloguing, and creating inventory sheets for court and police documents.
- Sorting and filling the incoming branch documents along with charge reports from various police divisions.
- Cross training with other clerk positions to ensure the workflow is managed efficiently as required.
- Capacity to deal with potential graphic or disturbing written and photographic content.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and display professionalism, sound judgement, and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.
- Other general office duties as required, including telephone inquiries and mail distribution.
Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with an emphasis on word and information processing, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications.
- A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
- Previous administrative experience, ideally in legal, law enforcement, or government setting is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- Knowledge of disclosure practices, the Criminal Code, legal terminology, or court procedures would be an asset.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, time management and multitasking skills.
- Proven technical ability working with various computer software programs and databases.
- Experience with JOIN, CPIC, GlobalScape, NICHEUA are an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn EPS-specific systems and software.
- High degree of efficiency, thoroughness, and the ability to adapt to changing work priorities to meet disclosure requirements.
- Demonstrated self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload in a demanding fast paced environment.
- Mature individual with the ability to adapt to change and work in a multidisciplinary team setting.

- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday/Tuesday-Friday, 0600-1600hrs.Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 007, $23.787 – $29.534 (Hourly), $1,903.00 – $2,362.70 (Bi-Weekly), $49,667.26 – $61,666.99 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.General:
