Job Profile
Under the direction and guidance of the Branch Head – Wastewater Planning
and Project Delivery, consistent with the principles of the continuous
improvement initiative, the primary requirement of this position is to carry
out engineering assignments and complete
technical/economic/environmental reports related to short and long range
planning for the expansion/upgrading/modification of local and regional
wastewater collection and conveyance systems.
Participates in the sewer gauging and rainfall monitoring programs to collect
and organize data essential to the assessment of system response and
capacity issues.
As the Wastewater Collections Planning Engineer, you will:

1. Direct and coordinate all aspects of field monitoring programs for data
acquisition related to sewer flow, wastewater level gauging, and
pumping station capacity assessments.
2. Plan and design field monitoring programs for wastewater flow data
acquisition.
3. Undertake wastewater flow analyses and projections, extraneous
inflow assessments, and assist in the assessment and control of
Combined Sewer Overflow (CSOs) and Sanitary Sewer Overflow
(SSOs).
4. Assist with the development and operation of district-specific and
regional wastewater computer models.
5. Establish appropriate design criteria for wastewater flow estimates,
planning level sewer and lift station designs.
6. Confirm that development applications are correctly applying the
wastewater design criteria.
7. Provide input and direction on practices and guidelines to maximize
the effective use and operation of the wastewater collection
conveyance systems and treatment systems.
8. Participate in the asset management of wastewater collection and
conveyance systems in order to develop capital budget estimates for
the rehabilitation and upgrades of the collection and conveyance
systems based on current condition assessment, projected functional
life and business case.
9. Initiate and maintain control of the project in terms of aims, goals,
policies, and objectives of the organization.
10. Make effective use of people and resources involved in the project.
11. Ensure that the project will satisfy the technical, financial, schedule,
