Our Commercial Insurance Underwriting branch in Winnipeg, focuses on commercial property, casualty, and commercial auto business. The branch is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join this dynamic and profitable branch. In this position you will play a meaningful role in supporting a team that is driven every single day to think bigger and do better for our customers, and to achieve desired results. Your role is to learn and grow, to develop as a valued member of the team, and work toward and underwriting career path.Your support and assistance to the underwriters in the processing of commercial policies, process various underwriting transactions within assigned authority including endorsements, renewals, and new business is critical.What You’ll DoAssist the underwriting team with triaging and processing of documents including providing administrative and clerical support for Underwriters.Process policies and documentation in a timely mannerData entry to the RTM systemProcessing loss control reports and other assigned dutiesPerform quality control to meet the accuracy and underwriting requirements on business processingAdministration support to the managers and underwriting teams as requiredParticipates in the development and implementation of polices and documentation standards to support and facilitate UnderwritersWhat You’ll BringPost-secondary or equivalent experience required and orCompletion of a related educational, diploma/degree/accreditation2 plus years’ related experience in administrative and or support functionInsurance background would be idealAble to work within a fast-paced environment, and work well under pressureMindful of making deadlines, results-orientedAbility to multitaskQuick study/learning curveAbility and willingness to work with repetitive tasks and keep focused, with a good level of accuracyExcellent technical aptitude with web based and in-house systems and databases, good working knowledge of Microsoft office suiteStrong attention to detail, accuracy is a critical component for success in this roleSuperior organization, time-management, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic priority changing environmentStrong ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.Need to be confident and comfortable to manage healthy level of autonomyVested interest in learning and building career in the general insurance space.Effective in a culture of teamwork, collaboration and accountability; a person who encourages cooperation across the organizationSelf-starter who is able to work remotely if required.What You’ll GetThe salary band for this position ranges from $29,600 to $55 000.
