Job description: Job PostingHalifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for the casual position of Summer Recreation Tennis Instructor in Parks and Recreation. HRM encourages applicants to self-identify.The Summer Recreation Tennis Instructor leads Tennis programs for a variety of age groups. The instructor must plan and teach Tennis classes to campers who may vary in their abilities and experience.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily duties such as greeting participants.
  • Leading activities.
  • Ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants.
  • Organizing equipment and supplies.
  • Preparing for activities.
  • Distributing and collecting permission slips for outings.
  • Participating in staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience

  • Current technical and practical training at an advanced level in Tennis
  • At least one season/summer of experience working or volunteering with preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting
  • At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
  • Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities

  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid (CSA Basic) and Level C CPR is required
  • Successful completion of all training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
  • Must attend all trainings
