The Counsellors respect health and safety procedures and are interested in developing their leadership skills.Why join Camp STEAM?Monday to Friday work schedule – weekends off!Daytime work hoursCanada Day and Civic Holiday OffFun work environment and culture while working with childrenCareer pathing – get experience in the STEAM fieldsFuture OpportunitiesRewards and RecognitionMultiple locations to choose from; for a full list of our sites please visit .ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of a Counsellor include but are not limited to:Leading activities for campers including inquiry and discussionAssisting campers in learning more about Camp STEAM projectsCreating a fun, enjoyable, and safe atmosphere for campersModelling appropriate behaviour and positive interactionsEngaging with each camper as they work through activitiesEnsuring that all campers under your care are treated equally, consistently, and fairlyProviding consistent and specific direction in the supervision of campersDemonstrating a positive attitude, thoughtfulness, and good decision-makingBeing self-confident and able to accept and adopt constructive feedbackFollowing all daily campsite cleaning proceduresCarrying out other reasonable duty requests from the Camp Coordinator, Program Coordinator or a member of the Management TeamNote: Candidates applying for any position with Camp STEAM must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 22, 2024.Successful Candidates Should Possess:Working towards a high school diploma or enrolled at a post-secondary institution1 year experience working with childrenKnowledge and understanding of STEAM related topicsInspirational and creative thinking skillsCustomer service-oriented mindsetTeamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiativeStrong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to changeThe ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsMust be able to commute to workplace locationApplicants who are Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents will be prioritizedWhat to ExpectAlthough our camp season runs in July and August, we are looking for Counsellors to begin training in late June 2025.
