Students benefit from the advantages of a small campus while earning a degree from one of Canada’s leading universities.PositionThe Augustana Student Academic Services (SAS) Office is seeking a project-oriented Student Event Coordinator position to support the planning, promotion, and execution of key co-curricular, retention-focused, and degree-enhancing events/opportunities in the 2024/2025 academic year. This student position will report to the Team Lead, Student Advising and Experiential Learning and have event supervisors that they will support during the Fall Term 2024 and Winter Term 2025. The Student Events Coordinator will regularly engage, each week, with strategic planning and other tasks to support SAS staff in promoting and successfully carrying out three events in each Student Advising portfolio (Career Services, Student Advising, and Community Service-Learning).Duties
- Promotion and Advertising – Liaise with the Augustana Campus Engagement Officer to provide social media content and other print/electronic media (posters, emails, information displays, etc.) for events and other co-curricular/experiential learning opportunities like Arts Work Experience (AWE) and the Science Internship Program (SIP).
- Connect/communicate with campus and community partners.
- Event planning, coordination, and logistics.
- Coordination and carrying out tasks during and in the lead-up to events.
- Attend regular check-ins with Student Advisors.
- Performs other duties as required.
QualificationsThe successful candidate MUST be a student currently enrolled in an Augustana Faculty program and will ideally have or be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience working with a diverse population.
- Organizational skills.
- Communication skills (experience with social media and multi-media platforms).
- Punctuality & time management skills.
- Effectively prioritizes tasks.
- Experience in a customer/student-facing environment.
- Is self-motivated and works well in a team environment.
- A positive attitude.
- Flexible availability able to accommodate evening and weekend work when required.
