Job description: Position: Special Projects Manager (Recreation and Community Development)Division: Community ServicesDepartment: Recreation and Community DevelopmentTerm: 1 Temp Full Time position(s) available for approximately 17 months.Closing Date: 09/26/2024Labour Group: SCMMAPosting: 3635Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Social Development Manager, Community Development, this position will oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Building Safer Communities Fund project: Saskatoon Well-being and Employment Enterprise Pilot (SWEEP) project for the City of Saskatoon.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the Saskatoon Well-being and Employment Enterprise Pilot (SWEEP) project.
  • Ongoing communications with project community partners.
  • Recruiting and/or supporting recruitment for SWEEP job opportunities via:
  • Liaising with City of Saskatoon departments; and
  • Representing the City to external agencies or groups such as business improvement districts (BIDs), community associations, etc.
  • Coordinating and convening project advisory meetings.
  • Tracking, monitoring and analyzing SWEEP inputs, outcomes, and expenses.
  • Reporting project inputs, outcomes and expenses to Public Safety Canada.
  • Identifying gaps or challenges with SWEEP pertaining to project outcomes or operations.
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the project budget.
  • Coordinates knowledge translation activities in partnership with Communication and Public Engagement, community partners, and advisory committee including a community forum at project end.
  • Prepares final project report.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Requirements:
⦁ University degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration or a related discipline. Bachelor’s degree is required but Master’s is preferred.
⦁ Four to six years’ experience in development, management, delivery and research of social programs and policy.
⦁ Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a vehicle suitable and available for use in the performance of the assigned duties.
⦁ Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
⦁ Considerable knowledge of the philosophy, theory, processes, and practices of social development as it pertains to Saskatoon.
⦁ Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program development, implementation, management and evaluation.
⦁ Knowledge of service delivery by public, private and non-profit sectors related to designated populations.
⦁ Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, including formal presentations.
⦁ Considerable knowledge of issues facing Indigenous, new Canadians and marginalized populations.
⦁ Ability to research, collect data, analyze and prepare findings to guide decision-making.
