Job description: Description :Shop HelperStandard Bus Contracting is currently seeking a dedicated Shop Helper to join our maintenance team in Whitehorse, Yukon. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined and self-starting individual who is looking to gain experience in this field. The Shop Helper will be accountable to the Lead Mechanic for performing all assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner, working in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company policies.Wage: $28.50 per hourPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Help mechanics in performing maintenance and repairs on buses
• Assist with basic tasks such as replacing lights and topping up fluids
• Adhere to company standards and processes in the completion of assigned tasks
• Ensure that goals related to efficiencies and daily operation needs are achieved
• Work with shop management to maintain schedule compliance and priorities
• Movement and washing of fleet vehicles
• Building and yard maintenance
• Perform various other related duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 2 preferred)
• Mechanical aptitude
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
• Work boots and small took kit
• Computer proficiency

Working ConditionsThe Shop Helper role is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with a regular shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
