Job description: We are currently recruiting for a Shop Production Foreman on behalf of our local based manufacturing client. Our client is looking for someone with a minimum of 10 years experience working in a fabrication environment to join their busy shop. Looking for a hands-on, willing to pitch in to get the job done while maintaining the ability to lead and manage the team.Pay Rate: $32.00 to $40.00 per hourShift: Straight days – 6:30am start time, Saturday overtime during busy period
Qualifications:
– Minimum 10 years experience in a fabrication shop environment
– Experience with set up and operation of all welding equipment, saws, punches, ironworkers and all paint equipment.Job duties include:
– Responsible for assigning work to shop employees and ensuring they are all working to the best of their potential to maintain efficiencies and deadlines.
– Ensure all shop employees produce high quality fabricated products while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
– Responsible for training and orientation of new employees including fitters, welders, painter and labourers with the goal to maintain safe working environment for all shop personnel
– Ability to step in when needed to work on the bench by fabricating, welding and to do daily supervisory duties when required
– Mentor new employees in the shop and help resolve fabrication issues that arise.
– Assist any walk-in clients in regard to welding jobs or repairs, and ability to quote on any repair work
– Conduct safety audits on equipment and schedule maintenance where required to comply.
– Provide monthly maintenance for all shop equipment including oil changes and wear and tear items.
– Maintain a safe yard by organizing material outside and compound ensuring all steel items are tagged and labelled
– Responsible to order all paint material and organize paint shop so it runs adequately and efficiently.
– Documenting all sick days, tardiness, and general attendance of each “shop employee” all occurrences to be emailed to office admin.
– Maintain open lines of communication with project managers and owner in regards to scheduling, required maintenance, and any supply needs.
– Responsible for coordinating trucking or pickup of material or steel that is not in stock and required asap for fabrication. Includes on occasion pickup of gases and consumables when required in urgence.
– Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Scheduling Software
– Must be good communicator both oral and written
