- Team Support: The Senior Buyer shall provide support to the Operational Procurement Team and support the Procurement Manager in activities such as training, development and succession planning.
- Conduct sourcing: The Senior Buyer shall gain experience in Babcock Canada’s procurement procedures and is responsible for procuring goods and services across the team within the following framework:
- Schedule – Procure goods and services in a timely manner in order to meet the project schedule
- Cost – Achieve the lowest total acquisition cost and negotiate savings where possible
- Quality – Responsible for suppliers’ quality performance; engage with internal stakeholders such as engineering, technical inspectors and cataloguing to resolve any technical issues that may emerge
- Follow Babcock Canada’s commercial guidelines and ensure all contracts are within the agreed terms and conditions
- Negotiate Standing Offer Agreements and/or Service Level Agreements with suppliers as required
- Perform market analysis and supply chain design in support of new business
- Manage Supply: The Senior Buyer shall manage suppliers and will be responsible for supplier relationships:
- Engage proactively with the suppliers to develop formal relationships
- Manage Supply Chain risk, as required
- Ensure that goods and services are delivered on-time; advise customers (internal and external) if goods and services are late and develop mitigation actions
- Act as the point of contact for all supplier issues pertaining to logistics, invoicing, documentation, etc.
- Support Category Management and assist in developing category/supplier strategies
- Where possible, identify and develop new suppliers
- Deliver and exceed customer expectations using key performance indicators (KPIs) whilst aiming for continuous improvements
- Manage the Order Book: The Senior Buyer is responsible for order book management across the team (the order book covers the entire lifecycle, including but not limited to requisition to purchase order, delivery, payment and closeout)
- Assist the Procurement Manager as and when required with the day-to-day operation and management of the procurement activities
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Procurement Manager and close out actions
The ideal candidate brings:
- You hold a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, a degree/diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- You have at least 4+ years of relevant experience
- You are APICS, MCIPS, or SCMA qualified, or hold an equivalent Procurement qualification
- You have knowledge of commercial business practices
- You have proven communication skills, both verbally and written, and are able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- You have experience in sourcing and supplier selection, supplier relationship management, supplier capability assessments, supply chain risk management and negotiation/conflict resolution
- You are proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- You have experience in industrial supply chain (considered an asset)
- You have experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (such as SAP, IFS) (considered an asset)
- You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
