  • Recruitment range: $72,242- $79,650 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: $93,951 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Job SummaryMandate:The Senior Academic Coordinator (SAC) provides the leadership and support to allow the Department to maintain innovative, high-quality curricula and to offer an outstanding undergraduate experience. The SAC is the vital link between the academic and administrative elements of the student experience, providing undergraduate advising; facilitating curriculum development and delivery for the Department’s diverse undergraduate programs; improving the undergraduate student experience, and running the Department’s outreach and recruitment efforts.Objectives:

  • Provide discipline specific academic advice to undergraduate students in all the Department’s undergraduate programs.
  • Design and execute Department outreach and recruitment events.
  • Support the Department leadership to meet long-term planning and academic goals.
  • Supervise teaching assistants, the teaching assistant consultant, and the senior lab instructor including recruiting, performance development, coaching, and workload management.
  • Provide instructional skills training and serve as a resource to instructors for course design.
  • Evaluate transfer credits.
  • Evaluate incoming international exchange students’ prerequisites.
  • Evaluate and act on missing pre-requisite reports.

This role requires flexible hours including weekends and/or evenings as to accommodate occasional outreach and recruitment events.Job RequirementsThis position requires a Master’s degree in Psychology or related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Experience cultivating and maintaining relationships with industry professionals, alumni, and other external partners to enhance networking opportunities including building connections with local high schools.
  • Demonstrated training and presentation skills used in facilitating and leading training workshops and sessions to a variety of audiences including in a lab setting.
  • Understanding of current trends in higher education and the ability to integrate innovative teaching methods into the design and evaluation of course materials.
  • Significant information management experience, including Learning Management Systems, web-based applications, spreadsheet development and maintenance, and KUALI or similar program.
  • Experience with event planning and coordination.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and good judgement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations.
  • Proven track record of achieving project goals on time and producing deliverables of a high quality.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel.
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changes in academic policies, accreditation requirements, and the evolving needs of the department.
  • A working knowledge of the undergraduate program requirements and the different undergraduate courses offered by Psychology.
  • The ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to, using Microsoft forms.
