The School of Maritime Studies, within the Marine Institute, is involved in a wide variety of education, research, and training for the marine industry. It is seen as one of the most respected centres of marine learning and applied research in the world offering world class expertise and facilities, a multi-disciplinary approach, and strong linkages with industry. It operates a large well-equipped vessel that is available for research.DUTIESThe successful candidate will work within the research unit of the School of Maritime Studies on differing aspects of new technology integration, digitalization, user-centred design or maritime safety as applied to human factors and human performance in the maritime domain. The successful candidate will work closely with the Ocean Safety Research Unit, members of School of Maritime Studies and other sectors of the Marine Institute and Memorial University, including the Engineering and Applies Sciences Department, Offshore Safety & Survival Centre.QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate has a minimum of a Bachelors degree in one of the following fields: engineering, psychology or kinesiology. Msc experience or qualifications is an asset. Previous research experience within the field is required. Working experience in industry is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The RTP will be responsible for preparing human ethics applications.
