Job description: Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.Position Overview:The research assistant will support various aspects of research projects related to K-12 schooling and supporting student well-being in schools with a focus on equity. The research assistant will work closely with the faculty supervisor to conduct academic research, manage data collection processes, and support the organization of the research program.Duties:

  • Prepare and organize materials for research.
  • Perform academic research and literature reviews.
  • Monitor and document research status and findings.
  • Assist in data collection, data entry, analysis and interpretation.
  • Assist in the acquisition of research materials and supplies.
  • Perform data/word processing, routine computations, and record keeping.
  • Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a concurrent or consecutive Bachelor of Education program.
  • High level of comfort with MS Suite (Word, Excel etc.).
  • Understanding of survey tools (i.e. SurveyMonkey, Qualitrics).
  • Ability to record and transcribe interviews.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of stakeholders in education (i.e., students, teachers, administrators, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to student equity and student well-being in schools.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
