Job description: Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.Position Overview:Research Assistants will assist with data collection during field visits to fishing communities in Manitoba during the Spring Reading Week (February 15-23) and potentially during shorter visits later in February and March.Duties:

  • Assist in data collection, data entry, analysis and interpretation
  • Employee will assist with recording, note-taking, and coding of interviews
  • Perform data/word processing, routine computations, and record keeping
  • Employee will edit interview transcripts, transfer numerical data from interviews to spreadsheets, and maintain secure records of interviews and meetings
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least three credit hours in Indigenous Course Requirement courses or equivalent.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, or a related program.
  • Must have completed TCPS-2022 CORE training by time of employment.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
