The Work-Study Student Application form is available online here:Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.Position Overview:Hiring a research assistant for a study to monitor and manage an online survey for parents about their environmental activities with their young children.Duties:
- The successful candidate will be highly knowledgeable with the google platform.
- Close ongoing monitoring of the incoming online surveys during the active portion of the survey is essential. This will include timely trouble shooting for any technical issues.
- The candidate will also manage the data collection and follow the study protocol for the saving of data for later analysis.
- Strong computer, communication, problem-solving and writing skills are essential.
- At the completion of the data collection, the research assistant with my guidance will assist in analyzing the data.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will be highly skilled in working with online platforms, particularly in google.
- The ability to work independently with keen attention to the incoming surveys is essential.
- Strong computer, communication, problem-solving and writing skills are essential.
- The candidate will be a 5th year Education student.
- It is essential that the research assistant be able to work independently and productively.
- The candidate will have excellent time management skills and be experienced in organizing and working with detailed information.
- Close monitoring of the website during the active portion of the study is essential.
- The research assistant will maintain regular communication and check-ins with me.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Students must be approved for the 2024-25 Work-Study program. Students may be eligible for the Work-Study Program if they meet all of the following criteria:
Currently an undergraduate or graduate student (PACE and ELP students are currently ineligible);Enrolled full-time for the current Fall/Winter session (i.e. at least 18 credit hours or 12 credit hours if registered with Accessibility Services);Completed 24 credit hours at an undergraduate level at the University (or equivalent);Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0;Have demonstrated financial need (shortage between your expenses and resources)*; andA Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person or an international student with a valid study permit.*An application is incomplete if you have put zero resources.
