Job description: Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.Position Overview:The Research Assistant will support research-creation projects in the Greenhouse Artlab. This includes researching for relevant artistic and scholarly resources, reading and discussing relevant resources, developing literature reviews, and writing. It also includes supporting art projects and supporting artistic workshops.Duties:

  • Assist with plant care related to research-creation projects.
  • Assist with research-creation and artistic production.
  • Assist with workshops (material acquisition, set up).
  • Assist with social media.
  • Perform scholarly research.
  • Assist with duties related to the production of articles, publications, reports, presentations, and grant writing.
  • Prepare literature reviews.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in research-creation and artistic production.
  • Experience with plant care.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience in Google Docs / Google Drive / Dropbox.
  • Experience with research and literature review – Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately perform duties and meet specified deadlines.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
