Your goal in this position is to perform imaging examinations in the imaging modality of Nuclear Medicine that meet the established standards of the Department and the CMRITO. You have the ability to operate imaging equipment in the department and also have the ability to listen and take direction effectively. You have good communication skills and multi-tasking skills. You are able to work in a fast-paced environment and are easily adaptable. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers , learners, patients and families.On a practical level, you will

  • Perform all Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology imaging examinations and procedures as required, and all other duties as requested by supervisory personnel, by implementing proper procedures (re: health, safety, and radiation protection) for patients, employees, and visitors
  • Work as part of an inter-professional team with physicians and other healthcare professionals within the hospital to provide complete patient care
  • Work in accordance with departmental radiation safety policies/procedures and guidelines

in compliance with Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regulations

  • Optimizes the processes and quality of images provided
  • Assume all operational responsibility when on shift
  • Assist the Radiologist when required
  • Follow proper procedures for care and cleaning of equipment, imaging rooms and monitor

supplies

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures of the Department of Medical Imaging at North York General Hospital

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in Nuclear Medicine required
  • Bachelor’s Degree and Advanced Diploma in Nuclear Medicine Technology approved under the CMRITO required
  • BCLS certification is an asset
  • Membership with OAMRS Specialty Certificate is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with angio catheter insertions, IV skills and insertion is an asset
  • One year of recent post-graduate Nuclear Medicine clinical experience as Registered Technologist including SPECT/ CT is preferred
  • Recent hospital experience is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and team building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment, as well as independently
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset
