We are an organization where individuals’ contributions are valued and there are many opportunities for personal growth and development.Position SummaryThe Day Surgery/Pre-Admission Clinic RPN will possess the theoretical knowledge and technical skills required to work within this program. The appropriately skilled RPN will be responsible for the assessment and care of both pre-operative and post-operative patients. The appropriately skilled RPN will be responsible for the assessment and care of the patients in the Cystoscopy Clinics. The Day Surgery/Pre-Admission Clinic programs are dedicated to providing safe client care utilizing an effective and efficient team approach.Qualifications

  • Must hold a current general class certificate of competence to practice as a R.P.N. in Ontario.
  • Qualified to practice within current CNO R.P.N. Scope of Practice.
  • Must have current certification in BCLS and maintain yearly
  • Perianesthesia Nursing course mandatory.
  • Successful completion of Physical Assessment Course and Medication Administration course or diploma equivalents.
  • Must have certification in initiating and monitoring peripheral IVs and administering IV solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain sterile technique while performing technical procedures.
  • Must have two years current experience in day surgery setting
  • 2 years experience in a surgical inpatient setting preferred.
  • 2 years experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide post operative health teaching to patients across the care continuum.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in EMR documentation, written and verbal communication skills in relation to working with patients across the care continuum.
  • Must be willing to participate in continuing education programs.
  • Commitment to providing high quality, individualized patient care.
  • Ability to form good working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Ability to make intelligent, independent decisions and initiate appropriate action based on patient focused best practice guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Essential duties require ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping.
  • Must have exemplary work performance and attendance record.
