Job description: JOB TITLE: Recreation Training Support – Co-opDEPARTMENT: Community ServicesNUMBER OF POSITIONS: 2JOB STATUS & DURATION: Temporary 4-monthsHOURS OF WORK: 35-hour workweek / variable hours (Some evening and weekend work may be required to support specific training and development initiatives)LOCATION: Hybrid Model – when working onsite, you will report to the location of 8 Nelson Street WestHOURLY RATE: Year 1 $21.04Year 2 $21.43Year 3 $23.13Year 4 $25.21JOB TYPE: Management and AdministrationPOSTING DATE: January 13, 2025CLOSING DATE: January 31, 2025AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:The Recreation Training Support Co-Op Student will support the development, delivery, and evaluation of training programs for part-time and seasonal staff within the Recreation Division.Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, Program Development & Training, the student will assist in creating training materials and designing engaging digital learning experiences to support adivision of 3000 plus part time staff and 200+ full time staff. Additionally, this role will support the Division in tracking training and certification compliance to enhance the operationaleffectiveness of our team. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in training program development, refine media assets (video, audio, illustrative), e-Learningdevelopment as well as project management.The following are indicative of the work that will be required:

  • Support the delivery of e-learning and centralized training modules.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop, edit and refine media assets (video, audio, illustrative) that support instructional content.
  • Supporting the update of eLearning content to ensure that it meets Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards, making training accessible for all.
  • Support with running reports from the Learning Management System (LMS) to facilitate effective tracking of training completions for recreation staff
  • Assist with staff certification processing for compliance.
  • Provide administrative support for new training initiatives.

SELECTION CRITERIA:EDUCATION:

  • Completion of High School (Grade 12) or equivalent
  • Student must be enrolled in any University or College Co-Op. Proof of enrollment letter will be requested prior to placement offer.

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Intermediate level proficiency or better using MS Office Suite.
  • Understanding of e-Learning software (e.g. Articulate Storyline) is an asset.
  • Understanding of Learning Management System (LMS) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail is required
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas while collaborating and managing multiple projects.
