Job description: Probation/Trial Period: 910 working hours or six (6) months, whichever occurs firstHours: 20 hours per weekFunding: GrantStart Date: December 1, 2024Location: Winnipeg, MBJob Type: TermStatus: ExistingDate Posted: 11/19/2024Closing Date: 11/25/2024Salary Range: $25.26 – $34.82 per hour*This is a 2-year term position, only internal applicants will be considered*The Indigenous Leaders in Science project aims to develop a harmonized suite of programs on the University of Winnipeg’s campus to encourage Indigenous students to pursue careers and graduate studies in the natural sciences and engineering (NSE).The Project Coordinator is part-time (20 hours per week) term position supporting the implementation of the grant-funded Indigenous Leaders in Science project. They will coordinate project activities and provide support to students participating in the programs associated with this project.Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of the project in collaboration with the project team.
- Manage project documentation including planning, evaluation, and reporting.
- Track project budgets and ensure project activities are on time, on scope, and on budget.
- Manage research ethics submissions, modifications, and renewals.
- Perform literature reviews and environmental scans of similar programs to inform project development.
- Prepare, process, and expedite administrative forms and maintain specialized files and/or records, which may involve hiring and payroll, student enrolment, or financial matters.
- Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate engagement sessions, focus groups, and project team meetings.
- Develop a webpage within the larger university website showcasing the program.
- Engage with and provide direct support to Indigenous students, including addressing any logistical issues related to project participation.
- Act as a liaison with other university departments, external institutions and agencies, and the general public by developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Communicate and collaborate with diverse groups, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators at The University of Winnipeg.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis on a relevant subject, such as education, human/social services, or counselling. Additional training or certification in student affairs/service/advising would be considered an asset.
- One year of related work experience, including experience in project coordination & administration.
- Experience working with equity-deserving communities (e.g., Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQ+ people, people from racialized communities, people with disabilities, etc.), preferably in a post-secondary environment.
- Experience advising diverse post-secondary students in a diplomatic, flexible, and timely fashion.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
- Demonstrated work and/or lived experience and commitment to working in a diverse, equity-focused environment that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
- Knowledge of academic programs and processes and experience working with diverse student populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to address needs confidentially and professionally.
- Computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications and experience with content management systems (CMS). Training on Cascade (the CMS used at The University of Winnipeg) will be provided, if needed.
