The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.About the OpportunityReporting to the Northern Zone Director, Interprofessional Practice and Learning; the Professional Practice Leader (PPL) facilitates and advances excellence in quality person centred care and practice through the integration of a variety of services aimed at supporting and enhancing professional practice. The PPL takes a collaborative leadership role in fostering a culture of learning with a focus on clinical practice, clinical leadership, inter/intra professional collaboration and the development, implementation and maintenance of a model for inter/intra professional practice and standards consistent with health professional regulatory bodies and associations. The PPL serves as a consultant to the organization with respect to professional practice issues at the individual, team, program and system level. The PPL works with all members of the interprofessional team including physicians to promote evidence-based practice, reflecting best practices and a culture of person centred care.Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Northen Zone. A valid driver’s license and access to transportation is required.About YouWe would like to hear from you if you have the following:
- Health profession education at Master’s level or higher relevant to interprofessional practice and learning required
- Active practicing licensure and in good standing or eligible for licensure as a health professional in Nova Scotia
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in related health professional discipline with operational or practice leadership experience
- Minimum of three (3) years progressive leadership experience such as, clinical nurse specialist, Nurse Practitioner, clinical educator or professional practice coordinator
- Experience in planning and delivering competency-based education and clinical learning programs within a complex, integrated service model in collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders
- Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform innovative, flexible and responsive learning and educational programming and quality improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks applicable to the practice of health professions
- Experience in engaging, mentoring, developing and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives an organization
- Experience in initiating, leading and managing organizational change, and complex work
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with ability to interpret program evaluation data to inform quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
- Experience working with diversity of learners, staff and stakeholders, with knowledge of cultural competence, diversity and social inclusion
- Ability to manage conflict and foster conflict management strategies
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality in terms of employee sensitive information
