Job description: Job Description:The Network Support Engineer works under the general supervision of the Director, Enterprise Infrastructure and is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s network infrastructure. This role serves as a bridge between Network Administration and Network Engineering, focusing on network performance, troubleshooting complex issues, security enhancements, and project support. This position requires a strong technical background with hands-on experience in routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network security. While network infrastructure is the primary focus, some user support will be required, particularly for network-related issues.Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.What you’ll doNetwork Operations & Support

  • Support, maintain, and troubleshoot the enterprise network, including LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network performance and connectivity issues using tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, and packet capture analysis.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco networking equipment, including routers, switches, and wireless AP and controllers.
  • Manage and support Palo Alto Firewalls, including security policies, NAT, and threat prevention.
  • Support Palo Alto Global Protect VPN, ensuring secure remote access for users.
  • Work with ISPs and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve WAN connectivity issues.

Network Optimization & Projects

  • Assist in the design and implementation of network improvements and upgrades.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, bandwidth usage, and security policies.
  • Participate in network automation initiatives (Ansible, Python, scripting) to improve efficiency.
  • Implement and manage Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize business-critical applications.
  • Assist in planning and deploying Wi-Fi infrastructure and VLAN segmentation.

Security & Compliance

  • Configure and maintain Palo Alto Firewalls, including App-ID, User-ID, and threat prevention policies.
  • Support intrusion detection and threat mitigation with industry security standards.
  • Manage VPNs, authentication protocols, and access controls to ensure secure connectivity.
  • Conduct network audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend solutions.

User Support & Collaboration

  • Provide second-tier support for network-related user issues, including connectivity and remote access troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with Network Engineers and Systems Administrators on deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Document network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior IT staff on network best practices.

What you’ll bringTechnical Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a Network Administrator or Network Support role.
  • CCNP; additional certifications (Palo Alto PCNSA, Fortinet NSE) are a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, wireless controllers).
  • Strong experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and Global Protect VPN.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including:
  • Routing: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
  • Switching: VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, 802.1q
  • Wireless: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, WPA, 802.1x authentication
  • WAN Technologies: MPLS, VPLS, SD-WAN
  • Security: Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, NAT
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, NetFlow).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure) and hybrid network environments.
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python, Ansible, Bash, PowerShell) is an advantage.

The estimated salary for this position is $110,000 – $130,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
