We are home to over 14,000 faculty and staff, more than 40,000 students and a growing community of 300,000 alumni worldwide.Your work will have a meaningful influence on a fascinating cross-section of people – from our students and community members, to our renowned researchers and innovators, making discoveries and generating solutions that make the world healthier, safer, stronger and more just. .Working for the DepartmentThe Student Recruitment Centre of Expertise within the Office of the Registrar specializes in the recruitment of domestic undergraduate students to the University of Alberta.PositionThis position will require occasional work on evenings and weekends.Reporting directly to the Manager, National Recruitment, the National Recruitment Coordinator is accountable for the dissemination of information about the University of Alberta to Canadian high school students, their parents, and school counselors, assisting in the development of the University’s undergraduate recruitment strategy, and operation of the University’s recruitment program. This position is an expert in domestic undergraduate student recruitment.The National Recruitment Coordinator is responsible for the successful connection of applicants to their faculty/program of interest for the purpose of conversion to registered students by those faculties. As such, this position organizes and facilitates the majority of opportunities for faculties and their recruitment staff to reach prospects and in this way provide central support to all direct entry faculties and programs across all three major instructional campuses.Working closely with the Manager, National Recruitment, Team Lead, National Recruitment, Specialists, and Coordinators within the team, the National Recruitment Coordinator collaborates and ensures recruitment strategies and activities are coordinated and aligned. This position is an important member of the Student Recruitment Centre of Expertise and collaborates with College-level Student Recruitment Service partners as well. This position also provides mentorship and functional task allocation to the student recruiters supporting the execution of tactics within this portfolio.Duties

  • Focuses on and participates in the development of the National Recruitment Strategy.
  • Participates in strategic planning within the National Recruitment Portfolio, working closely with the other Coordinators and Specialists.
  • Identifies new target markets and provides data to support decision-making.
  • Analyzes statistical data and provides detailed information to senior management.
  • Assists in reviewing recruitment publications/presentations content.
  • Works with a variety of stakeholders across Canada targeting high schools, colleges, and university recruitment special events, which occasionally require evening and weekend work.
  • Determines how funds will be broken up for events within their portfolio.
  • Plans, organizes, and executes large-scale special events (Information sessions, Registration 101 workshops, counselor workshops, etc.).
  • Liaises with Communications regarding marketing plans for events and coordinates participation from faculties and departments across campus.
  • Delegates tasks and provides direction to assigned Student Recruiters.
  • Prepares proposals to enhance and improve both current and new initiatives within the portfolio.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains electronic recruitment initiatives (electronic newsletters, event information on the website, hosting online presentations, etc.).
  • Develops strong relationships with high school counselors/teachers.
  • Travels occasionally outside of Alberta to other provinces in Canada.
  • Provides additional office support as required.

Qualifications

  • University Degree
  • Minimum of two years of related experience; university recruitment experience preferred.
  • Presentation skills, excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Technical/computer skills that will enhance the proliferation of our e-recruitment strategy.
  • Knowledge of university campus policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel within Canada.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (no GDL); Defensive Driving Training; Must pass the U of A Fleet Safety Driver’s Evaluation and maintain the
