NWP takes pride in respecting and preserving its buildings and grounds, and this is reflected in the prompt and dedicated service provided by its Facilities – Maintenance and Operations team.The RoleThis position is responsible for the management/development of facilities and operations and its services/staff. This service unit is responsive in meeting the needs of NWP Fairview campus with respect to facilities and services such as grounds; building maintenance; renovation and construction projects; contracted services; and monitoring provincial and federal code requirements. This position is expected to be available to respond to events outside of normal business hours including late night and weekends. This position is also expected to work in physically demanding areas which requires appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE), a few examples are: extreme temperature fluctuations or at heights where fall protection might be required or in confined space. A combination of education and experience will be considered. A designation in Facilities Management is preferred.Experience in the following areas will help the candidate be successful in this role:

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to staff, students, and community members.
  • Responsible for the supervision of all Fairview Campus Facilities staff members.
  • Planning and managing of all facilities assets, buildings (including Residence), and grounds operations.
  • Developing and executing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Issue work orders using a computerized maintenance system.
  • VFA Management and updating of facility assets.
  • Contract and procurement management, which includes oversight over the contractor management processes.
  • Monitoring, planning, and preparing of annual operational budgets.
  • Maintenance and tracking of expenditures on FMO capital equipment.
  • Project Management for operational and capital projects as required. Responsible to assist Director with capital project planning.
  • Creating and implementing FMO work procedures, guidelines, and safety programs.
  • Management of various ancillary services as assigned by the Director. This can include Food Services, Bookstore Operations, Custodial, and Fleet Services.
  • Developing and implementing an ancillary services quality control program.
  • External lease contact for the Fairview Campus.
  • Implement and monitor sustainability strategies and KPIs in collaboration with the Manager, Facilities Grande Prairie and the Director.
  • Responsible for utility usage and energy consumption tracking.

The successful candidate will also have developed skills in the following areas:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Utilization of computerized maintenance management software;
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Utilization of benchmarked data to make data-driven decisions;
