Duties and Responsibilities:Reporting to the Culinary Director – the Junior Sous Chef provides exceptional guest satisfaction thorough the delivery of creative and delectable food offerings. This role provides support to the culinary leaders and connects the F&B team members, ensuring smooth operational success. This role provides an opportunity to continue developing a career in the art of culinary, opening opportunities for advancement internally and externally throughout the Tourism/Hospitality industry.

  • Offering consistent professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues.
  • Assist with creating food menus with the guidance of the Executive Chef or Culinary Director.
  • Setting and meeting standards of cleanliness and quality.
  • Maintaining inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with the production, preparation, and presentation of all food items, always ensuring highest quality.
  • Guide, train, and coach team members while holding them accountable for their own actions.
  • Following kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Adhering all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
  • Receive and store food deliveries using proper rotation and food handling practices.
  • Leading by example to hold the team accountable for their duties.
  • Adhere to set out portion control, respectful food handling in order to contribute towards food cost targets.
  • Communicating with the Executive Chef daily. Supporting the Executive Chef as necessary.
  • Main point of contact for communication with the front of house staff.
  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are fully completed for all stations.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a professional kitchen or similar position.
  • Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline an asset.
  • Advanced Food Safe Certification.
  • First Aid Certificate is an asset.
  • Proven track record of creativity, leadership, and passion.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible & reliable.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment as part of a team.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Salary: $48,000-$50,000 per annum plus gratuities. Wages negotiable depending on experience.Seasonal opportunities available for full-time and part-time positions.
