Job description: The Investment Portfolio Analyst provides support regarding the management, reporting, analysis, and risk assessment of Investment activities as it relates to WCB’s Accident Fund and Retirement Plan investment portfoliosJob Duties:Monitors performance of investment managers, which includes reviewing reports, actively participating in meetings and investigating performance concerns as required.Reconciles custodian reports to investment manager reports, investigating and resolving any discrepancies. Ensures compliance with policies.Reviews funding requests for all trades and private asset commitments for accuracy; provides instructions to WCB’s custodian for payment; ensures incoming distributions and cash are correct; and investigates shortfalls or non-payment situations.Builds and maintains financial models, spreadsheets and databases as required.Researches, reviews, compiles and prepares reports and agenda items related to investment portfolio performance, compliance, and asset mix for review by the Chief Investment Officer (CIO).Oversees contracts with external service providers, ensuring compliance with terms, fees, responsibilities and reporting requirements, and resolves any discrepancies with the service provider. Consults with legal department for input and advice.Works collaboratively with the Finance department to ensure proper recording of investments, performance tracking, development of the investment income budget and other related matters.Develops and prepares departmental budget and forecasts for approval by the CIO, monitors monthly expenditures, and investigates/explains monthly variances.Analyzes and reports on underlying asset class performance and risk. Provides feedback to CIO quarterly.Prepares investment documents for signing by the CIO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).Conducts investment related research as assigned.Provides investment related information to AWCBC as required.Develops and maintains relationships with industry participants.Qualifications:University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related disciplineActively pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designationMinimum three (3) years of relevant experience in areas such as investment research, monitoring, or portfolio managementGood working knowledge of financial and/or investment terminologyStrong written and verbal communication skillsWell developed organizational, and planning skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to work under pressure in a fast-paced environmentAdvanced proficiency in the use of a personal computer and software (Word, Excel etc.) in a Windows environmentExperience with financial software (eVestment, Bloomberg, etc.) or computer programming language (Python, C++) is considered an assetOther related professional accreditations, such as the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), etc., are considered assetsAbility to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset, but is not requiredAdditional Information:Annual Salary Range: $66,438 – $85,536Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset.A satisfactory criminal record check and verification of education will be required for the successful candidate.The WCB is committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce with equitable representation of Indigenous persons, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, women, 2SLGBTQ+ persons and members of other equity-seeking groups.
