Job description: Randstad is looking for an Invesment Accountant for a 6 month contract.Investment Accounting, the Analyst is responsible for timely, complete, and accurate accounting for pooled fund and segregated investments . The Analyst
maintains and performs internal controls effectively; this includes the application of generally accepted accounting principles, industry standards, and professional judgment. The Analyst works in a team environment and may assist staff within the department or in other departments regarding accounting treatment, problem resolution, or recommendations where appropriate.This position may take direction from an Associate or Senior Analyst, Investment Accounting as necessary. The Analyst performs in an environment where knowledge of net asset valuation methodology, adherence to established policies and procedures, and working collaboratively is key.Advantages

Responsibilities

  • Completes net asset valuation and accounting for pooled funds and performs reconciliations for

segregated investments in accordance with procedures and internal control requirements

  • Works with vendors, teams, and departments to identify and resolve basic issues regarding the

accounting for investments and structures, both within pooled funds and on a segregated basis

  • Completes year end pooled fund distributions and other tax calculations/information in

accordance with established procedures
Prepares working papers for year-end financial statements for pooled funds and tax filings and
financial information for regulators and clients in accordance with policies and established
standards

  • Provides support for valuation of asset classes
  • Assists Associate / Senior Analysts in identifying issues regarding the accounting for investments

and structures, both within pooled funds and on a segregated basis

  • Maintains basic understanding of clients and asset classes including investment objectives,

reporting requirements, investment processes, instruments and structures

  • Maintains basic understanding of finance concepts, procedures, reporting and the end-to-end

processes and technologies that support the finance function

  • Efficiently and effectively develops, maintains and continuously improves financial solutions and

processes aligned to client and asset class objectivesQualifications

  • University degree or Diploma in a related field
  • Eligible for a professional accounting designation (CPA) or an intermediate student in a

professional accounting program or equivalent

  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • A basic knowledge of the securities markets and investment accounting including net asset

valuation methodology

  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan assigned workload to meet strict deadlines
  • Advanced level Excel skills and current experience with an industry standard accounting
