The position provides support in the human resource functions relating to the City’s Occupational Health and Safety program, training, and employee development and is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for City employees. In addition to the primary safety and training duties, the Human Resources Officer, Safety and Training may support in divisional Human Resources functions, such as recruitment, benefits, or payroll when required. The position involves travelling to external offices and worksites for meetings, training, or site visits.QUALIFICATIONSThe position requires a post-secondary diploma in health and safety or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in health and safety, or a related field. A professional designation such as CRSP (the Canadian Registered Safety Professional), or equivalent is required.Applicants require a comprehensive knowledge of safety principles and related legislation, coupled with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to perform independently, utilizing sound judgment, is essential. Experience in developing and delivering workshops/education sessions is essential.
