Job description: Position ScopePosition ScopeNACG are seeking an experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.For this role, NACG offers a combined gross rate of up to $74.45/hour as well as room for growth!Where You’ll Be Working
- Site: Suncor Top Shop
- Schedule: 14 x 14, 12 hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). Days/Nights.
- Accommodations: Camp is not provided. $15 Living Out Allowance per hour.
- Transportation: Bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts).
- Overtime: Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week.

- Complete repairs on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi equipment of all sizes.
- Work closely with peers in both maintenance and operations.
- Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment.
- Evaluate equipment performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Trouble shooting systems – example: hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair.
- Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired.
- Order required repair parts, complete reports and fill out work orders.
- Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.
- Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
- Other maintenance duties as assigned.
Specific Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience post Journeyman certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.
- Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit professional work behaviors.
- Committed to continuous learning.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
Qualifications
- A valid Alberta Journeyman (Journeyperson) Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).
- Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
- Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an asset

- Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Have experience as requested as mentioned above
- Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
- Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
- Breath Alcohol Test
- Urine Drug Test
- Fitness-to-Work Assessment
- Audiometric Testing
- Vision Screening
- Criminal Record Check

- Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
