Explore beautiful landscapes and experience unique fauna thriving year-round in this exceptional environment.About the RoleAs a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will maintain and repair vehicles and heavy equipment essential to operations at CFS Alert. You’ll ensure everything runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently in this critical Arctic environment.Key Accountabilities:Maintain and service all vehicles and equipment for DND, Nasittuq, and Government employee use.Perform first- and second-line repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance.Conduct on-site repairs as required and provide HVT recovery services.Deliver corrective and preventive maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment.Complete and submit PM/CM work orders into the maintenance management system.Provide input into reports, including the Vehicle Maintenance Services Requirements Forecast.Follow safety standards and participate in site safety meetings.Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned to support the overall program and mission.RequirementsCertifications: Red Seal Certified Motor Vehicle Mechanic or Journeyperson with Truck and Coach Technician (310S & 310T) certification, including Diesel endorsement OR Certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic Off-Road Earth Moving Equipment (421A).Qualified to maintain specialty vehicles (graders, loaders, backhoes), including turbines used in the CSUs.Trained to operate vehicles containing hazardous materials and drive with attached trailers.Minimum 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing vehicles/equipment.Eligible for a DND 404 Driver Permit and Reliability Security Clearance.Must pass a pre-employment medical and possess a valid Canadian passport.Physically fit for a role that involves significant physical effort daily.Competencies and Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Adaptable to living and working in a restricted, remote Arctic environment.What We OfferRotation Schedule: 8 weeks on-site, 8 weeks off-site, 48 hours/week.Competitive Pay: $53.53-$56.45/hourIsolation Allowance: $27/day for every day on-site.Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance.Retirement Support: Employer-matched pension plan up to 5%.Living Arrangements: Private accommodations with meals provided.Paid Travel: Full travel costs covered from your home to the site, with paid travel days.Recreational Facilities: Exercise equipment, pool tables, and common amenities.Opportunities for Inuit Land Claim BeneficiariesNasittuq Corporation is committed to the growth and development of Inuit Land Claim Beneficiaries.
