The position conducts field-based water monitoring, analyzes and interprets data and information to support field audits, research, flood forecasting, and environmental assessment and licensing, and assists in the production of environmental reporting.This position will work for a one-year Term from approximately April 2025 to March 2026.   • A diploma or degree in physical sciences, engineering, environmental sciences or related scientific discipline
  • Work experience or course work related to any of the following: water resource sciences (i.e. hydrology, meteorology, hydrogeology, water chemistry/toxicology), natural resource management, statistics, data analysis and management, and/or field sampling techniques. If you possess this experience, please highlight it with relevant examples in your CV or cover letter.
  • Experience with the use of software for the synthesis and analysis of environmental data (e.g. Microsoft Excel, R, statistical analysis packages, and modeling applications). If you possess this experience, please highlight it with relevant examples in your CV or cover letter.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

  • Ability to conduct technical research and data analysis and interpretation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate information (i.e. reports, summaries, presentations)
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills as this position will work in a team environment in the office and field setting
  • Ability to manage time and projects, and problem solve in a high-paced, event driven setting
  • Aptitude to conduct field trips to remote locations (including ATV or snowmobile travel, or travel in rotary or fixed wing aircraft)

Additional InformationConditions of Employment: Class 5 Yukon Drivers’ License.Job Requirements: Must be willing to travel throughout the Yukon.NOTE: To qualify for the GradCorps program, you must:

  • be a resident of Yukon or a person of Yukon First Nations ancestry*
  • have graduated with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution within the past two years (2023, 2024 or 2025 grads – all requirements for graduation must be complete before internship start date)
  • have little or no work experience in your field of study

*If you are a resident of Yukon who completed your studies outside of the territory, you may apply up to two years after graduation.
