Job description: We are looking for a full time nanny to care for our son and our dog. We live in Severn, ON and prefer a live out arrangement. We are shift workers and will occasionally need childcare on the weekend. We can offer full time work for 2-3 years. A little about our son: We are proud parents of a 20 month old boy. He was premature and as a result, he is small for his age and develops according to his corrected age. Overall, he is quite healthy. He loves to play and flip through books. He is very close to walking full time and babbles a lot. He can say a few words and can find an object if you refer to it by name. A little about our dog: Our dog is 14.5 years old with a heart condition, stage 1 kidney disease and arthritis. He is on medications that are given 2x daily to manage his heart and has kibble for his kidney. We rarely give pain meds but there is some for him if his leg looks like it’s bothering him. We don’t expect you to walk him because he gets tired quickly. We definitely think his hearing and eyesight are not great. But he is happy and eats/drinks normally. He still gets little bursts of energy and loves to cuddle on the couch. Note: We know he is a geriatric and we have no intention of letting him suffer. If signs of serious decline begin, we will not hesitate to let him cross the rainbow bridge. The last thing we want is to keep him around when he no longer has quality of life. A little about my partner and I: We both work 12 hour and 8 hour shifts for a total of 40 hours/week on average. Our normal work location is Orillia but some 8 hour shifts are in Barrie. We try not to overlap the weekend shifts but it may not be avoidable so weekend work may be required. We do not work nights at the same time. There will be overlapping shifts during the day. Shift examples: A typical 12 hour shift means we will need childcare between 5:45 am and 6:45 pm to accommodate shift change and commute time. We don’t usually overlap more than two 12 hour shifts in a row. Though we prefer live out, if we need you to start work at 5:45 am and if it is easier for you, we can offer you a spare bedroom for those days. Overlapping 8 and 12 hour shifts means we will need childcare between 7:15 am and 4:30 pm. There will be some weeks when we don’t overlap very much at all but we still commit to having childcare full time so we would encourage you to fill in the gaps in the schedule to ensure you have 35-40 hours per week. Any day we are off and you want to work, we would expect you to work sometime between 8 am and 4 pm. The job duties are: For our son: – Prepare food and monitor during meals – Offer milk and water throughout the day – Set up play time – Encourage skill development – Tidy up after his meals – Keep play areas tidy – Give Motrin or Tylenol where the situation calls for it (ex. teething) – Encourage proper naps For our dog: – Give heart meds and/or pain meds (all liquids so they are easy to give) – Refill food and water bowls as needed – Let out for bathroom breaks periodically throughout the day If you are interested in the job, we would love to hear from you!
