Job description: Director Of PhilanthropyFraser Valley Health Care FoundationVancouver, BCJob Summary:The Director of Philanthropy reports to the Executive Director of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation. The Director is responsible for creating and maintaining and environment that attracts philanthropic support for our organization’s mission and strategic directions.In this key role, the Director manages the constant renewal and implementation of a vibrant and forward-looking fundraising plan that encompasses all components – annual giving, legacy giving, major gifts, and community events – and enhances donor development and donor relations. The Director manages and mentors the Foundation’s fundraising team.Core Responsibilities:
- Implement FVHCF priorities, strategies and plans as approved by the Board of Directors,
- Direct and manage the overall fundraising efforts of the Foundation and integrate these efforts into the overall strategic direction of the organization.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to leverage opportunities to match donor interests with the Eastern Fraser Valley’s health care needs.
- Advise the Executive Director as to important industry trends, changes and opportunities in the philanthropic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:Management and Administration
- Support, train, mentor and lead the fundraising team.
- Manage the fundraising team’s professional development plans, goal setting and performance reviews.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to translate the annual development plan into a monitored budget.
- Ensure that donor stewardship activities are donor-centred and provided to corporate, foundation and government stakeholders.
- Ensure full and effective utilization of Raisers Edge database.
Fundraising
- Develop the annual fundraising plan of the Foundation including all components – annual campaign (direct mail; monthly, tribute and in-memory giving; events – signature and community; hospital staff giving and engagement; and leadership gifts), legacy giving, major gifts – and oversee the implementation of approved strategies
- Support the fundraising team to ensure annual goals and targets are met.
- Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of 25 – 50 major gift donors and prospects.
- Oversee the effective delivery and growth of special events and special campaigns.
- Working with the Executive Director, develop and manage Board fundraising engagement.
- Renew and foster effective donor stewardship model.
- Contribute to Foundation key messaging and marketing efforts.

- A high-level of organizational ability, attention to detail, and ability to manage tight timelines.
- Strong decision-making skills demonstrated by strategies that move the organization forward, effective goal setting, action plans and evaluation of successes and failures.

Benefits
- Salary range: $79,000 to $90,000
- Work format: On-Site, 37.5 work week
- Vacation: Up to a maximum of twenty days after one year of service
