Working collaboratively with other members of the Innovative Curriculum Team and industry specialists, the Digital Interactive Design Lead supports the development of innovative learning environments and experiences for the identified custom micro credentials and learning products in terms of building digital, web- based content and maintaining back-end databases throughout the College for various programs as required.Key Responsibilities:

  • Use curriculum documents to lead technical design and conceptualization of custom digital environments, interactions and workplace simulations. Consult with Innovative Curriculum Team to validate alignment of design to learning outcomes.
  • Prototype different gameplay designs and environments to identify the best option for the project. Ideate and present opportunities for expansion of the digital interaction/simulation based on capabilities of the software and research in emerging practices.
  • Development of digital environments and simulations through Unity, Unreal, or similar programs.
  • Collaborate with others on integration of simulated interactions within digital learning environments.
  • Troubleshoot the digital products (both bug fixes and updates).
  • Adapt interaction/environment design according to capabilities of the technology.
  • Maintain established quality standards for digital offerings.
  • Research emerging practices for gamified, authentic online learning environments and experiences and apply these as possible within Unity and related software(s).
  • Identify any skill development needed to implement emerging practices and assess whether the level of training required to implement the skill is possible within the timeframe of the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year degree, or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Interaction Design, Game Programming, Computer Science, or related to support the creation of highly technical digital interactive builds.
  • Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in the technical design and development of gamified interactions, particularly those employed in learning contexts that are competency/simulation based.
