The successful candidate will have the following:Associated degree(s) or diploma(s) in related field: dance, teaching, working with children, youth, adults, seniors and/or individuals with disabilities.Previous experience teaching/working in the fieldCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John’s Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.Meet and maintain any other specific licensing requirementsEvidence of a cleared police security clearance including a vulnerable sector searchThree professional references required.What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?The Dance Instructor will:Prepare lesson plans, teach and educate participants (children & youth, and/or adults & seniors) in dance, according to the curriculumHelp develop/offer input to the current curriculum, in alignment with the growth and development of all arts programming initiativesAssure the health and safety of participants by following health and safety practices and regulationsProvide a safe, fun, engaging, creative and supportive environment for participants and volunteersExceptional organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and decision-making skillsExceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer serviceStrong attention to detail and exceptional follow-throughAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBe able to maintain a high level of confidentialityMaintain a professional attitude at all timesAbility to meet assigned deadlinesEffectively communicates in a variety of settings;Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure best delivery of customer/client experience, consistency in program offerings etc.Perform other duties as assignedBe available to work Monday afternoons;Ensure the space and its equipment are being treated safely, and appropriatelyWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
