  • Issues lockers, passes, keys and towels to authorized users and monitors their return.
  • Issues sports equipment to authorized users, monitors return of equipment and may perform routine repairs when necessary.
  • Acquaints patrons with facility procedures.
  • Accepts payment for sales of clothing, equipment, membership and guest use of facilities as well as rentals of equipment.
  • Operates computerized cash register and computer, maintains cash float, balances cash and completes daily summaries as requested.
  • Opens facility in the morning, secures facility at closing and maintains cleanliness and security of areas in accordance with procedures.
  • Monitors facilities to ensure the safety of all users. Takes appropriate action to eliminate risks or communicate risks to appropriate staff.
  • Makes routine inspections of the facility and reports malfunctioning of equipment, security infractions, or unauthorized practices.
  • Sets up equipment.
  • Maintains records on use of equipment and facilities, using manual systems and computer software.
  • Launders towels and uniforms and restocks as necessary.
  • Inspects the RecPlex artificial turf on a daily basis and collects garbage off the field.
  • Ensures movement of users on and off activity areas in order to keep activities on schedule. Actively monitors the schedule, communicates with user groups about scheduled times; prepares goals, curtains and field equipment in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • At least one year of directly related work experience in a recreational sports or community facility including: handling cash, issuing receipts, monitoring security and maintenance of a facility, providing service to patrons/participants.
  • Basic knowledge of how to use a computer and computer software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, strong English language skills.
  • Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures and communicate effectively with staff, students and the public.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate and detailed records and handle cash.
  • Preference will be given to UWinnipeg students.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to work day, evening and or weekend shifts.
  • Must have Basic First Aid & CPR, or be able to obtain within three months of hiring.
  • Must be able to provide proof of successful clearance of the Manitoba Child Abuse Registry and Winnipeg Police Service Criminal Record Check. Please note, the responsibility for both lies with the applicant.
