This position will start January 6, 2025 and end April 25, 2025. Working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $27.81, reporting to the Manager, Centre of Access Programs.You will need to be available for a flexible schedule as class times vary & will change from term to term based on student needs.This position assists the CICE student to maximize his/her learning potential. The incumbent advocates, intervenes and acts on behalf of the CICE student with faculty, other College students, and College-wide services. The Learning Specialist is responsible for modification of course outlines, tests, and assignments in collaboration with the faculty.Interviews for this role will be held on Friday December 20th. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by email to pick a time slot on that day.Specific Accountabilities:
- Modifies course materials, tests and assignments in collaboration with faculty
- Develops and recommends policies and procedures for administration of work unit
- Provides data to decision makers allowing them to determine best course of action
- Responds to needs of service users by coordinating all details of learning initiatives
- Other responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
- Two year Educational Assistant diploma, Developmental Service Worker diploma, Child and Youth Worker diploma, Social Service Worker Diploma
- 1-3 years of experience with persons with developmental disabilities, persons with significant learning challenges and experience in the teaching/tutoring environment
- Mental health training is an asset
- Knowledge and experience utilizing educational/learning strategies; Microsoft Teams, D2L experience is required
- Possess advocacy skills and a willingness to participate in marketing events
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and patience
- Computer fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams)
- Ability to work and make decisions independently as well as demonstrating a high level of initiative is essential
- Excellent organizational and creative problem solving skills
- An effective team player
