Job title: Cell Culture Technician

Job description: Reporting to the ARC director, the Cell Culture Technician will be responsible for the operation and oversight of the cell culture facility in support of research projects that utilize cultured mammalian cells as a primary experimental model.
Key Responsibilities

  • Culture 10-15 mammalian cell lines on a weekly basis. Maintain cell stocks and set up cells for experiments.
  • Preparation of cell culture media and supplements.
  • Maintenance of two liquid nitrogen cell banks, including record keeping of cell location and usage.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of cell incubators and biological safety cabinets.
  • Maintenance of associated equipment including a dishwasher, autoclave and water purification system.
  • Monitoring compressed gas use and storage.

NoteDue to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Masters degree in Biochemistry or Biology.
  • 1-2 years experience in the cell culture and maintenance of mammalian cells.
  • Experience working in the lab and maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
