We recognize the land and waters that have inspired our work and offer gratitude to those Indigenous peoples on whose territory we work, live and play.About the roleCanadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular, Full-time Manager CAPA to join our dynamic Quality Management System team.Reporting to the Associate Director, Quality Management Processes, the Manager provides leadership to the CAPA specialist team who are tasked with leading CAPA investigations.In addition to overseeing the team, the Manager may also be assigned to lead high profile CAPAs that require senior level facilitation. This role is required to work within a broad scope of review and analysis of the organization’s systems with the intent to ensure teams successfully identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions. The incumbent is required to work with cross-functional leadership teams.Formula for Success
- Using your leadership skills, provide direction to a team of CAPA specialists as well as thought leadership on problem solving tactics and techniques to the entire organization.
- Drawing on your financial and business acumen, develop and manage the budget for the CAPA team.
- Your grasp of data analytics will be used to collect and analyse data utilizing appropriate tools to measure the effectiveness of the CAPA facilitation and investigation process.
- Leveraging your organization skills, document event investigations, generate corrective and preventative action plans with associated effectiveness checks, and author departmental performance reports.
- Your collaboration skills will be used to partner with process owners and departmental managers to drive problem solving participation in assigned CAPAs and to ensure CAPA plans are executed meeting the established standards and goals for investigation quality.
- Your performance tracking skills be used to monitor timelines to achieve on-time completion of CAPA milestones and deliverables.
- Utilizing your strong training skills, provide coaching and mentoring to the CAPA Specialist team to enhance competency and leadership skills and as required, provide coaching to CAPA investigation teams in problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Drawing on your management skills, assign work within the CAPA Specialist team and manage individual performance. Also, responsible for hiring team members and any discipline as required.
Desired Education and Skills
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferable in a life science, engineering, or business discipline.
- Formal training in CAPA investigations, Quality Systems, problem solving and continuous improvement models such as Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
- 3 years of progressive experience at the leadership level, leading a highly skilled and educated group of employees.
- Experience in leading a team that is virtually located.
- Proven root cause problem solving capability and demonstrated proficiency in investigation methods.
- Experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing environment where Good Manufacturing Practices are applied.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, influencing and negotiation.

What You Can Expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at one of Canadian Blood Services production sites at least 40% of the time/2 days of the week
- You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours a day. Additional hours may be required depending on work requirements.
- Travel requirements – travel will be required to attend team meetings and work commitments.
