The team determines the business requirements and creates the functional design for new software and enhancements to existing software solutions.The Business System Analyst is a full-time continuing position responsible for the implementation and maintenance of innovative solutions. The successful candidate will develop and integrate software solutions with well-established software/frameworks, while collaborating with other team members and clients in analyzing and developing business solutions. The role requires continuous research, evaluation and implementation of methods and tools needed to purchase/integrate and implement applications and application to application interfaces for the University.Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, analyze, and model requirements of systems and their components.
  • Perform all main activities of the System Development Lifecycle, including planning and monitoring projects as prioritized by leadership.
  • Identify problems and needs of current processes, obtaining approvals from all stakeholders for resolution
  • Discover and understand details of the identified problems or needs.
  • Define and prioritize client requirements through a variety of industry standard modelling, prioritization, and refinement techniques.
  • Model requirements, information flows, data structures, processes and procedures for departmental and cross functional business entities based on an excellent understanding of the application area.
  • Using software tools; design, test, support and document systems, system components, applications, and their interfaces to solve problems or needs.
  • Tests new applications and reports to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and that program and report results are accurate.
  • Prepare unit and system integration test plans.
  • Provide technical consultation on systems software.
  • Analyses, Designs, Develops and Documents system implementation plans, based on requirements from operational, business and leadership stakeholders.
  • Coordinates, and performs implementations of system installations, updates and upgrades.
  • Creates, maintains, documents, and communicates the architecture principles for applications & interfaces.
  • Develops and maintains related manuals and documentation.
  • Research, investigate and evaluate more efficient design and development methodologies, “best of breed” tools, practices and trends. Communicates and discusses these concepts with all members of the Enterprise Software team to obtain feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Computer Science or related Undergraduate Degree with 3 years directly related experience as a Software Developer/Business Systems Analyst, or an Accredited Institutional Diploma with 4 years directly related experience
  • Must be fully knowledgeable in all aspects of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent oral and written correspondence within and outside the University.
  • Ability to communicate system design and development solutions to management and clients.
  • Experience in creation of short term solution/system test and implementation plans.
  • The ability to determine the most appropriate technical application architecture, while remaining within the guidelines and specifications.
  • Ability to coordinate the tasks and resources necessary to identify, define and resolve application production problems.
