Job description: Job Description:In order to ensure your application is received by NAIT for thorough review and consideration, please apply directly through our Careers site atPlease Note: This is a temporary position ending on or before November 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension.Reporting to the Executive Director – Student Experience, the Strategic Leader provides leadership to the Business Information Centre (BIC) staff to achieve the highest possible standards of excellence and collaborates within the school administrative leadership team on School operational strategies. Primarily responsible for the management of the student advising function for NAIT JR Shaw School of Business students, this individual actively contributes to the Advising Leadership Community of Practice, furthering the school’s position in NAIT’s Advising Model, and the creation of best practices and evidence-based advising services to facilitate student retention. Operationally, they are accountable to plan and coordinate the operational needs of the BIC and must also develop and implement strategies and operational efficiencies to foster excellent student experiences that align with NAIT’s Vison, Promises and Values.The ideal candidate for this position is skilled at building effective teams and has a proven track record of success. They are highly collaborative by nature, comfortable in an environment of change, and thoroughly invested in process improvement. They understand the importance of relationship building and will demonstrate respect and open-mindedness while supporting their team.The successful candidate will ensure accountability of the commitments of their team, manage complexities and operate effectively in times of ambiguity, all while planning and prioritizing work in alignment with organizational goals.Key Responsibilities:Monitor and manage the staffing, supervision and development of supervisory staff who are responsible for day-to-day operations.Oversee projects related to the unit, work assignments, discipline, completing performance evaluations, developing policy/guidelines, and business plans for the areas listed above.Collaborate with the JR Shaw School of Business Program Chairs and Associate Deans to establish and support sustainable student facing business processes delivered by the team.Liaise with the Student Progression and Registrar’s Office to support ongoing process development and improvement.Initiate and manage collaborative projects that involve other stakeholders, departments and/or Schools.Work with program areas to develop information passage, advising, prospective student support and current student retention strategies which enhance the student experience, student engagement and improve overall retention.Foster clearly defined communication channels with key stakeholders and identify key performance metrics to support our core work.Qualifications:Relevant post-secondary education.
