Job description: Job Description:We are seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper to join our team in the Healthcare/NHS industry, based out of North York, Ontario. In this role, you will be expected to manage various financial transactions, handle donor information, and perform administrative tasks as required. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities:
- Efficiently manage and enter donor and gift data into the appropriate database
- Handle donations received through various channels including email, telephone, and online
- Collaborate with development staff to ensure accuracy of gift information for database entry
- Generate tax receipts, thank you letters and tribute/memoriam cards in line with donor instructions and processing procedures
- Respond to and manage public inquiries related to tax receipt replacements, address changes, mailing options, and general donor inquiries
- Perform monthly accounting tasks as directed, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations related to campaign revenue and bank accounts
- Assist in generating monthly financial reports, including forecasts and budgets
- Oversee accounts payable related to vendor invoices, secure approvals, and submit to the appropriate department
- Undertake administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of the office, including management of office supplies and equipment
- Support the annual external financial audit, including the preparation of draft statutory financial statements
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping role within the Healthcare/NHS industry.
- Proficiency in account reconciliation, accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
- Experience with bank reconciliations and bookkeeping.
- Proficient in data entry and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and 3D Illustration is preferred.
- Experience with journal entries and donation management.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Commitment to continuous professional development in the field of bookkeeping.
