This job posting is open to experienced as well as entry level Operators who have their AARFP Arena Operator certificate Level 1. If you do not hold your AARFP Arena Operator Level 1 certification, you must commit to completing it within a 12 month period. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of arena operations.Primary accountabilities include:

  • Operate ice maintenance equipment, including but not limited to the ice resurfacer and ice edger
  • Maintain discipline among user groups and public spectators to the best of your ability
  • Ensure assigned duties are completed and within timelines outlined
  • Build sustainable relationships and trust with customer user groups
  • Play a lead role in emergency situations, as the first point of contact with the public and emergency responders
  • Accountable for general custodial duties and ensure that a high standard of safety, cleanliness and technical operation is maintained within the facility
  • Ensure that all safety precautions, fire prevention and practices are adhered to according to Provincial Legislation and Municipal by-laws and policies
  • Maintain written logs on a per-shift basis

You Bring:

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • AARFP Arena Operator Level 1 certification (or the commitment to obtain within 12 months)
  • Current Standard First Aid Level C CPR and AED certification is required
  • Some experience working in an ice hockey environment, including working knowledge of ice making equipment, would be required
  • Working knowledge of ice making equipment
  • A keen awareness for working safely
  • Ability to communicate effectively and offer excellent customer service to visitors and staff

Arena Operators will be expected to commit to a minimum of one evening shift and one weekend every two weeks.Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and will regularly be required to lift, bend and kneel.
