This process will apply both to internal and external candidates.Position SummaryWorking as a member of the interdisciplinary Community Wellness team, the Social Worker provides a diverse range of client care to ensure client engagement and to reduce or remove barriers. This care includes extended community outreach, health education, case management, treatment support, counseling, group facilitation, community programming, and advocacy for clients with acute and complex care needs. The Social Worker provides this care to individuals while promoting wellness, disease prevention, and chronic disease management and adopting a long-term approach to client care consistent with the philosophy of harm-reduction.QualificationsMust have a demonstrated understanding and grounding in Indigenous ways of knowing, doing, and being along with their application to social work practice. Connection to the community along with experience and comfort with Indigenous ceremony is considered essential. Familiarity with Indigenous customs and protocols will also be a necessity. These elements will serve the purpose of helping facilitate reconnection to culture as part of individual healing journeys for those seeking it.Education
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or a Combination of Education related to Social Services – BSW preferred
Must be registered and in good standing with the Manitoba College of Social WorkersSkills, Expertise, and Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a Social Worker
A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the areas of addictions, mental health, crisis intervention, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
The Social Worker will be responsible for presenting information in group settings and facilitating sharing circles to promote discussions on health and wellness.Critical Skills
