I feel welcome and at home.”Purpose: To support the operation of a community care, nursing clinic, serving ambulatory clients daily.AREA SERVED & LOCATION: TorontoRESPONSIBILITIESThe Reception Volunteer helps to ensure the successful operation of the clinicWelcomes and admits clients to the clinic according to appointment schedule providedMay make appointment reminder calls when requestedIf required, answer phones in a timely mannerMay record and keep track of telephone messages, if requiredOrganizes the reception area to support efficient and effective clinic operationMaintains positive relationships with clients attending the clinicCares for the safety, privacy and confidentiality of client and client information at all timesRespects client privacy and adheres to confidentiality, privacy & other policiesReports to supervisors in a timely manner.Is familiar with and is able to follow and implement emergency procedures swiftly and independentlyREQUIREMENTSExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (Listening, oral, and written)Experience and ease engaging vulnerable peopleExperience in an administrative support role and/or Customer CareClinic experience an assetExperience in telephone and in-person client support, engagement; Excellent phone mannerAble to volunteer in person, in a small spaceAble to engage clients in conversation, and respond easily, creating understandingFriendly, caring, reliable, compassionate, empathetic, tactfulExperience and sensitivity working with culturally diverse individuals and familiesAble and willing to follow all infection, prevention and control requirementsAble and willing to easily receive and follow instructions, policies, procedures and boundariesDemonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team memberTIME COMMITTMENT5 hours/week plus travel time; 1 Shift is 5 hours in lengthShifts available daily, between 8am – 7pm; Clinic closes 1pm – 2pm, for lunch, dailyDays/times to be agreed with volunteer, to create a regular, ongoing scheduleAble to commit for minimum of 24 weeks; longer if possible/desired100 Service Hours required for reference letterWORKING CONDITIONSThe Volunteer works independently in a small office and clinic space. Volunteer reports to and is supported by clinic nurses on-site. Shifts occur in-person in an office/clinic environment. Infection Prevention and Control requirements must be strictly adhered to at all times and volunteers must self-assess using the self-assessment tool provided, prior to each shift and must continue to self-monitor throughout the volunteer shift.
