About the role
As an Underwriting Assistant within our Commercial Lines insurance department, your work will have a big impact on organizing and administrating our underwriting policies and procedures. People will count on you to ensure proper policy information is kept in the system and able to be utilized by the underwriting team at any given time. This is a permanent hybrid position requiring a minimum of 2 days in the office per week and is located in Dartmouth, NS
What you’ll do here:
Handle less complex insurance policy renewals, endorsements and cancellations
Prepare new business for input into our systems
Apply Intact’s standard terms and pricing on less complex commercial lines business
Review all CL underwriting mail and establish required action based on authority level
Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously
Assists Underwriters with processing for large complex policies
Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
One (1) year work experience in insurance
Bilingualism written and spoken, in French and English, preferred
Highly organized and driven to manage workflow efficiently with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Adaptable to constant change and a reliable team player
Strong typing skills and ability to work on multiple system simultaneously.
Experience working in Halcion is an asset
Working toward the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation as an asset
