Programs include both Intensive Treatment and Secure Services in the following facilities:

  • Yellowhead Youth Center – Provincial Campus Based Care (PCBC)

Role ResponsibilitiesDo you have a vision of building strong communities where children and youth are valued, nurtured, and cared for?The Transitions and Connections Supervisor will support the alignment of PCBC practice. Primary activities are to ensure that the interventions of Caseworker and Generalist are based on sound practice and that decisions support the safety of the child and the integrity of the family; to ensure Ministry policies and procedures are implemented; to build capacity of the staff reporting to the position; to support critical thinking and analysis; to provide direction and support for practice; to assess worker strengths and match to workload/caseload and to ensure that program services comply with legislation, regulations and ministry policy and procedure.As a Transitions and Connections Supervisor some of your responsibilities include:

Power & Distribution Manager – Nunavut
  • Conduct in-depth interviews and assessments to identify youth needs and issues, develop Transition and Connections Plans, provide accurate information on family matters, mental health, and legal processes, and support clients in completing necessary applications per relevant legislation.
  • Provide assessment and referral services upon application filing, offer ongoing case management for youth placements and family applications, follow up on placement matters and safety risks, and use conflict resolution skills to negotiate issues while coordinating services with various agencies.
  • Support youth voice in conferences, ensure administrative requirements are met, and promptly prepare and document Transition & Connection Plans and emergent cases.
  • Contribute to PCBC program development and improvement, address service delivery issues and trends in meetings, represent PCBC on boards and community groups to foster partnerships and effective referrals, and promote PCBC awareness through presentations and training while providing input on service delivery challenges.

QualificationsRelated diploma or related degree plus five years progressively responsible related experience.Requirements:

  • Plus, considerable progressively responsible experience in a campus-based treatment setting with 3-5 years of experience as a Child & Youth Care Worker 2 or 3-5 years of other supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) is required for all social work graduates.
  • Certification with the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta is preferred.
  • You must have a Valid Driver’s License

  • This position works 38.75 hours per week.
  • Final candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks including medical checks, Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector security screening, an Intervention Services Record check, and academic credentials check.
  • Class 5 driver’s license is required.
