Job description: Under the general direction of, and in collaboration with researchers and faculty members, positions at this level apply extensive knowledge in their field to lead high-level, complex research projects. Compared to Research Associates, these positions exercise greater input and judgment over the research, may be involved in setting research program objectives, and may be responsible for managing the team and project funds. Senior Research Associates would normally hold a doctoral degree or have equivalent qualifications and experience.Position Overview:This part-time (15 hours per week) Senior Research Associate will work with Dr. Craig Willis and his students to help lead a range of projects aimed at designing, testing and implementing conservation solutions for bat populations in central Canada. The position requires advanced skills for analysis of ecological data, experience conducting research on temperate-zone bats and other mammals, a strong publication record and excellent written and oral communication skills.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help manage and oversee a range of long-term datasets.
  • Conduct analyses of existing data and draft manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Liaise with external research collaborators.
  • Help prepare and draft applications for funding; prepare and submit documentations required by funding agencies.
  • Assist graduate and undergraduate students with analysis of data for their projects.
  • Provide feedback to graduate and undergraduate students on presentations, theses and manuscripts for publication.


Sessional Instructor - Department of Applied Human Sciences - Faculty of Science
  • PhD and post-doctoral experience in wildlife ecology.
  • Extensive experience conducting research addressing the conservation of temperate bats.
  • Extensive experience with sophisticated analysis of large ecological datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills.
