Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. We are looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. This position works within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team consisting of various healthcare professionals from the nursing and allied health professions. This team collaborates and conducts home or site visits to deliver client-centered services to individuals with a wide variety of physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions, including complex health needs. Using strong clinical and interpersonal skills, you will implement respiratory therapy services in accordance with regulatory and AHS practice standards, using best practice and a client-centered approach, engaging the client, family/caregivers, physicians, broader health care team and other internal program or external agencies as indicated. Respiratory therapy services may encompass any combination of direct therapeutic services, appropriate education, and/or connection to needed resources. Through the development and/or contribution to the Care Plan, in collaboration with the client and other healthcare providers, you will ensure services are provided and modified, based on the client’s response to the intervention. This position is integral to Children’s Home Care, which delivers services to children from birth – 18 years old with a wide variety of medical conditions, including children with complex health needs.Description:As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans, and monitor their progress. This role requires you to collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments. You will be responsible for providing training and assisting health care providers in the use and care of various respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. Required Qualifications:Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate from a registered school of Respiratory Therapy and have passed the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the College and Association of Respiratory Therapy of Alberta (CARTA) or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT). Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary. The successful candidate will work independently in clients’ homes, which could include congregate settings, single family dwellings, condos and/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet. Comprehensive understanding of developmental milestones. May work in day care/ home. Pediatric experience with airway management, tracheostomies and respiratory needs. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a Continuing Care setting. Meditech and Connect Care Experience. Palliative care experience.
